Huang transform (HHT) has been developed recently. An HHT based method is prop

sed to identify modal frequency and damping ratio, in which the measured respons
e data polluted by noise are first decomposed into modal responses using empiric
al mode decomposition (EMD). HHT is then applied to each modal response to obtai
n the instantaneous amplitude and phase angle time histories. Linear leastsqua
r
e fitting is carried out to identify the natural frequency and damping ratio fro
m the instantaneous amplitude and phase angle for each modal response. Experimen
tal results show the validity of the algorithm.
