Adaptive vertical handoff algorithm in heterogeneous network

Abstract: Integration of 3G networks and wireless local area networks is a trend of the next generation mobile communication. Vertical handoff is the basic requirement for convergence of different access technologies, and therefore receives much attention from the academia and industry. This paper analyzes tradition algorithms and proposes a new algorithm that can adjust parameters according to the business and network status. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has low blocking rate, low average time delay, and high bandwidth usage.
