Abstract:

CdTe quantum dots (QDs) were synthesized in an aqueous solution with thioglycolic acid (TGA) as a stabilizing agent to actualize water solubility of semiconductor nanocrystals. The carboxylic acid groups of thioglycolic acid (TGA) stabilizing CdTe quantum dots can form amido bonds with the amine groups of bovine serum albumin by the coupling action to label the protein. Before and after labeling bovine serum albumin (BSA), the change of emission and absorption spectra of CdTe quantum dots as well as their fluorescence-quantum yield were studied by fluorescence and UV-vis spectrophotometer. CdTe-BSA was confirmed by gel electrophoresis after being purified by dialysis.
