Abstract:

Both Li Shang-ying and Du Mu are wellknown Poets of the Late Tang Dynasty. Once Li Shangying gave his two poems to Du Mu but the latter did not give his ones back to the former. Mr. Dong Naibin's writing, by virtue of their different political positions, literary views, individual characters as well as the two poems themselves, talks about the difference between Li and Du. While Mr. Dong attaches importance to the reasons why Du didn't write back to Li, this essay give a detailed interpretation of the two poems and, especially, gives a supplement to Mr. Dong Naibin's textual research, that is, that there was a man named Liu Fen who influenced the friendship between Li and Du.
