Abstract: Philosophy supplies the theory of literary history with the cognitions of ontology such as the possibility of literary history, the subject or object of the theory, the purpose of the learning, etc. Characteristic of historiography, literary history makes a metaphysical inquiry about the above and goes further to clear them.
