The History of Culture on the Changes of the “Signified”——An Approach to the “Keywords” Study of Raymond Williams

Abstract:

Raymond Williams was grown up in the traditional soil of the British elite culture that advocated classic literature but had the academic qualities of ordinary peoples that made his research from the start of the everyday life of the broad mass. Different from those who constructed the scholastic system of theories, he attached a great importance to the social experiences, and, in the conceptual investigation of the keywords that appeared in a series of the social speeches chiefly consisting of the “culture”, depicted a landscape painting of the developing changes in social civilization, providing the new thinking mode and research vista for the happiness and harmony of the human society.
